Vasantotsav 2025 to be held on these dates in Dehradun
Vasantotsav- the annual flower show which is organized every year at Raj Bhavan Dehradun, will be organized from 07 to 09 March 2025. This decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retd) at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The Governor said that maximum participation of people should be ensured in this event and its publicity should be expanded so that the flower producers and women self-help groups of the state can get more benefit from it. He emphasized the need to promote flower production through Vasantotsav as well as the promotion of aromatic plants of Uttarakhand. The Governor directed that in order to link the flower exhibition with commercial activities, the possibilities of marketing of flowers here should be explored not only in the state but also across the country. He said that in this event, food court should be arranged with the cooperation of IHM and GMVN. In the food court, priority should be given especially to traditional millet based dishes. He said that honey production will also be encouraged through Vasantotsav, for which he directed GB Pant Agricultural University to set up special stalls.
The Governor emphasized on implementing the feedback system during the event, so that the event can be made more effective by getting suggestions from the people. The Governor directed the concerned officials to complete all the arrangements for Vasantotsav 2025 in a timely manner.
In the meeting, the officials informed that competitions will be organized in 15 different categories in the flower exhibition in which 162 prizes will be given. ITBP, IMA, PAC, and Home Guard will give presentations through attractive bands in Vasantotsav. Programs will be organized by artists in the cultural evening. Performances related to yoga, judo and martial arts will also be held during this period.
A painting competition will also be organized for all school children in the age group of 5 years to 18 years in Vasantotsav 2025. Children living in various orphanages, disabled children will also be included in this competition. For the first time in Vasantotsav, Lily Exhibition has been included in the competition, for which three prizes will be given. Like every year, competitions related to vegetable gardening, bonsai gardening, hydroponic farming, terrarium and honey processing will also be organized. Flower exhibition and competition of various government gardens including commercial, private flower producers, flower based rangoli competitions will also be organized.
Many competitions of various categories are proposed for the flower exhibition, competition, in which competitions like cut flower, potted plant arrangement, loose flower arrangement, hanging pots as well as ‘on the spot photography’ will also be organized. Bhadauria, DIG ITBP Manu Maharaj, Director Horticulture and Food Processing Deepti Singh, Joint Director Information Dr. Nitin Upadhyay along with officials of Tourism, Horticulture, ITBP, ONGC, IHM, GMVN, Indian Post, Forest Department, Police and Culture etc. departments participated in this meeting.
