Uttarakhand weather: State reels under heatwave

At this time, the whole of Uttarakhand is in the grip of severe heat. On Monday, the temperature was recorded above 40 degrees Celsius in 17 cities of Uttarakhand. These include Srinagar, Devprayag and Rudraprayag along with the plains.

On the other hand, according to the disaster control room in Haridwar, for the first time this year, the maximum temperature in the city reached 46 degrees Celsius on Monday. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Center in Dehradun has also issued an alert for severe heat wave in five districts on Tuesday.

According to the Director of Science Center, Bikram Singh, the temperature in Uttarakhand has been higher this time than in the past years. In Dehradun, the temperature remained above 40 degrees for 22 days out of the last 30 days. For ten days after May 17 and twelve days so far in June, the mercury has gone above 40 degrees Celsius.

Apart from Doon in Uttarakhand, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Tanakpur, Khatima, Rudrapur, Kotdwar, Devprayag, Pantnagar, Haldwani, Kashipur, Jaspur and Ramnagar recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on Monday.

The record of the hottest day in Dehradun was recorded on June 4, 1902. Then the temperature was 43.9 degrees. After this, 43.7 degrees was recorded on June 16, 1995. However, this time the temperature has not yet reached this level.

According to the Science Center, the period of rain will start in various areas of the state from June 19. This will bring some relief in the hilly areas but heat wave conditions will continue in the plains. The maximum temperature recorded in Haridwar on Monday was 4 degrees Celsius. According to the disaster control room, this year the mercury has reached such a high level for the first time in Haridwar.
