18 dead, many injured in New Delhi railway station stampede

On Saturday evening, a huge crowd of people gathered on platform number 14, 15 and 16 of New Delhi Railway Station to board the train going to Maha Kumbh, due to which a stampede occurred and a major accident took place. Chief Casualty Medical Officer of LNJP Hospital informed that 18 people including 3 children have died in this accident and 10 people have been injured, who were admitted to the hospital. According to the Railway Police, the crowd suddenly came in large numbers, due to which this happened. A huge crowd had gathered inside and outside the station to go to board trains to Prayagraj. Eyewitnesses say that suddenly a crowd came and people climbed over each other and this accident happened. Railways has ordered a high level investigation of this accident.

Incident of platform number 14-15, 16 of New Delhi Railway Station
This incident is of platform number 14-15-16 of the station. The incident is being reported at 9:55 pm. Two Kumbh special trains were delayed, due to which the crowd increased. There was a stampede on the escalator of platform number 16 as well, horrific pictures of which have surfaced on social media.
