Ahmedabad Plane Crash: 47 dead bodies identified through DNA test

Three days after the Air India plane crashed from Ahmedabad to London, authorities have so far identified 47 dead bodies through DNA tests and 24 bodies have been handed over to their families, an official said on Sunday. In the horrific tragedy that took place on June 12, many bodies were so burnt or damaged that it became difficult to identify them, after which the officials are conducting DNA tests.

Additional Civil Superintendent Dr. Rajneesh Patel said, “So far a total of 47 plane crash victims have been identified through DNA matching. Out of these, the bodies of 24 victims have been handed over to their respective families. These deceased were from different parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat.”
241 people on board the plane died
A Boeing 787-8 (AI171) aircraft crashed in the campus of a medical college in Meghnagar shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:39 pm on June 12. There were 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board the plane, of which only one person survived, all the rest died. Apart from this, many people on the ground were killed, including five MBBS students.
Relief and rescue work continues
This accident happened on Thursday. Relief and rescue work is going on since this terrible tragedy. Officials say that DNA matching is going on to identify the remaining bodies and soon other bodies will also be handed over to their families.
