Alert regarding Covid-19 in Delhi, instructions to hospitals to be prepared

In view of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Delhi, Health Minister Pankaj Singh reviewed the situation. He said that so far 23 active COVID-19 cases have been reported in the capital, whose reports have come from private labs. Pankaj Singh said that it is being seen whether these cases are from Delhi or people coming from outside. At present, there is no need for the people of Delhi to panic. He told that the Delhi government and all government hospitals are fully prepared to deal with COVID. In this regard, a high-level meeting is going on with the MS (Medical Superintendent) and health officials of the hospitals so that the situation can be monitored.
Along with this, the minister announced that with the aim of further strengthening the health facility to the people of Delhi, 39 Ayushman centers will soon be dedicated to the public in the next 100 days. At the same time, instructions have been given by the Delhi government to all government and private hospitals to be vigilant about COVID-19. Many key points have been emphasized in the new advisory.
Hospitals have been asked to ensure availability of beds, oxygen, essential medicines, vaccines, ventilators, bi-pap, oxygen concentrators etc. Staff engaged in COVID duty will be given refresher training as required. All health institutions will have to report ILI and SARI cases on the IHIP portal on a daily basis.
The government has said that reports of all parameters should be shared daily on the Delhi State Health Data Management Portal. Testing should be done as per ICMR guidelines. Testing of five percent of ILI and 100 percent of SARI cases is mandatory. Instructions have been given to send samples of all positive cases to Lok Nayak Hospital for genome sequencing so that new variants can be identified in time. Wearing masks and following other respiratory etiquettes have been made mandatory in hospital premises.
