Brain Fever death toll reaches 83 in Bihar

The fury of the brain fever spread in Muzaffarpur and its surrounding districts is not taking the name of stoppage. The series of death continues. Regular new patients are also emerging. On the 14th day, 11 more children died on Friday. With this, the death figure reached 83. 38 and six new children were admitted in SKMCH and Kejriwal Hospital respectively. 243 cases of the fever have been revealed with 44 new patients. However, these figures are far below the official record. According to the departmental report, there are 165 cases reported in which 57 children have died. Now 66 are undergoing treatment.

There were five new patients in the 11 children who died on Friday. The rest were undergoing treatment from earlier. Eight children succumbed at SKMCH while three died at Kejriwal Hospital. Meanwhile, the health minister of the state Mangal Pandey, after reaching SKMCH, reviewed the departmental initiatives and treatment system. He instructed the issuance of advisory for 12 districts on which the treatment of children is undergoing. Earlier, the minister saw the admitted patients. Family members and local doctors took necessary information. Meanwhile, all the officers of the Health Department including District Officer Alok Ranjan Ghosh, Civil Surgeon Dr SP Singh were present.

Here, SKMCH Superintendent Dr SK Shahi told that eight sick children died late in the evening. 38 new patients were admitted, 27 children have been shifted from PICU to General Ward. Two other patients died here late in the night.
