Clinical trials indicate made in India vaccine effective against new Corona strain

Corona vaccination is going on at a very fast pace in the country. So far more than 10 million people have been vaccinated in the country. Meanwhile, a big news is coming about India’s Corona vaccine. Clinical trials of the indigenous Corona vaccine have indicated that the vaccine will be effective against the new variant of the corona. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has reported that the results of the last clinical trial indicated that indigenous COVID-19 vaccines would be effective against the new Corona variant reported from the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil.

Addressing an international webinar ‘Kerala Health: Making the SDGs a Reality’ organized by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Kerala, ICMR Director General Dr Balaram Bhargava said that there was a debate over the effectiveness of Covaxin against the UK variant of Corona virus. Permission to publish research has been granted.

He said that in the case of Corona variants of South Africa and Brazil, an attempt is being made to isolate new variants of the virus from the samples collected from the travelers who came from these two countries.

They reported that the third clinical trial of covaxin has been completed. All 25,800 volunteers involved in the trial have been given both doses of the vaccine. An interim analysis report on the vaccine is expected to come out in a week.

Director General of ICMR, Dr. Balaram Bhargava said that India is the fifth country in the world to isolate the coronavirus as part of efforts to develop a vaccine for the epidemic. He said that India was more strict against the coronavirus from the beginning, unlike many European countries, including Britain and Italy. India’s decision was correct because what happened in the western countries caused the pandemic.

It is worth noting that covaxin is a fully indigenously developed vaccine, which Bharat Biotech has created in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). In India, two corona vaccines (Covaxin and Covishield) have been approved for emergency use. After which vaccination continues across the country. The results of the last trial of covaxin have not been revealed yet. If the results of the trial of cocaine are positive, then the process of vaccination in the country can be expedited.
