Delhi airport roof of terminal 1 collapses due to rain, many vehicles trapped

There is big news from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The roof outside Terminal 1, supported by iron pillars, suddenly collapsed. In the accident, the heavy iron used to support the roof has fallen on many private vehicles and taxis standing outside the terminal.

So far, eight to nine people are reported to have been injured in the accident. At the same time, CISF, Delhi Police and fire department personnel are engaged in relief and rescue efforts at the spot.

The accident happened early morning

According to the fire department, this accident at Terminal 1 of IGI Airport happened at around 5:30 am on Friday. At around 5:30 am, information was received about the roof of Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport collapsing, after which four fire tenders of the fire department were dispatched for relief and rescue.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the fire department and all security agencies are busy trying to rescue people trapped in vehicles.

Delhi’s first heavy rain on Friday

On Friday, Delhi witnessed its first heavy monsoon rain. Heavy rain drenched Delhi from 4:30 to 5:00 in the morning. However, due to this, the city was waterlogged since morning and traffic system got disrupted. There is a long traffic jam at many places and people are taking more than two hours to reach their destination.
