Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away aged 92
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday, December 27.
He was 92 years old. Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday evening after his health deteriorated.
Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of the country twice. He was the Prime Minister of the country from 22 May 2004 to 26 May 2014.
The media cell of AIIMS gave information about the death of Manmohan Singh. A press release was issued stating that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92. He was admitted to AIIMS at 8:06 pm on Thursday (26 December 2024) due to age-related health reasons.
He suddenly fainted at his home. An attempt was made to treat him at home. After this he was brought to the emergency of AIIMS. But despite many efforts, he could not be saved. He breathed his last at 9:51 pm.
He was the Finance Minister of the country from 1991-96. During that time, PV Narasimha Rao was the Prime Minister of the country.
Narasimha Rao is considered the father of economic liberalization in the country. Manmohan Singh played an important role in implementing his policies.
Remembering the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, President Draupadi Murmu wrote, ‘Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji was one of those rare politicians who worked with equal ease in both the fields of education and administration. While working in his different roles in public posts, he played an important role in improving the Indian economy.’
Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, ‘India has lost one of its most respected leaders Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. Rising from a humble background, he made his mark as a respected economist. He served in many important positions in the government, including Finance Minister, and left a deep mark on our economic policy. As Prime Minister, he made great efforts to improve the lives of the people.’
