Hyderabad Mecca Mazjid blast case: All accused acquitted by NIA court
In the blast case of the Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad, the decision of the Special Court of NIA has come in the case of the blast during Jumma prayers in 2007. The court has acquitted all 5 accused, including Swami Aseemanand, in the case. About 11 years ago, on May 18, 2007, 9 people were killed in the blast, 58 were injured. In the last 11 years,many twists and turns came in this case. Many witnesses turned away from their statements, which is why this decision has come today.
When this case happened, it was first investigated by the Hyderabad Police. Police took the name of a Muslim organization in its investigation, but when the investigation was handed over to the CBI later. The name of the Hindustan organization came in the CBI inquiry. After which 5 people were arrested.
CBI officials recorded testimony of 68 eye witnesses. Out of these, 54 witnesses now turned back from the testimony. The CBI filed the charge sheet too.
The NIA had questioned about 200 witnesses. Today, when the court pronounced its verdict, the judgment was heard within two minutes. The evidence twhich were produced before the court were not sufficient to prove the accused five people as guilty.
After the investigation, ten people were accused of this incident. It includes all members of Abhinav Bharat. Including Swami Aseemanand, Devender Gupta, Lokesh Sharma alias Ajay Tiwari, Laxman Das Maharaj, Mohanlal Rateswar and Rajendra Chaudhary were main accused in the case.
AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has alleged that all the accused started to overturn their statement after June 2014. The NIA did not do its work properly, or they were not allowed to do so.
