India achieves landmark vaccine coverage of 100 crore doses

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated on reaching the figure of Covid-19 vaccination in the country crossing 100 crores. The Prime Minister tweeted, ‘Thank you to our doctors, nurses and all those who worked to achieve this achievement.’

India has achieved a major milestone in vaccination against Covid-19. After China, India has become the second country to administer 100 crore doses. Even though China claims to have vaccinated its adult population against Covid-19, its figures have never been reliable. Because of this, the experts of western countries do not pay much attention to it.

Vaccination started in India in January 2021. It was started in the country in a phased manner by PM Modi. The country has set this record under his guidance. India has also given full help to other countries in recovering from the corona pandemic. While India itself took the initiative for this, it also carried out this work with the help of the Gavi organization of the World Health Organization. At present, the vaccine made by India and the vaccine produced in India has been sent to other countries around the world.

Given the challenges of large-scale vaccine production and distribution in the era of the unknown and unpredictable pandemic of coronavirus – the government’s delivery of one billion vaccine doses is considered a major achievement. So far, China is the only country where more than 100 crore vaccine doses have been given. There in June the mark of 1 billion doses was crossed. China is also a country with a population of over one billion.

Over 2.5 crore doses were administered in a day across the country on the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month; This was the fourth time that more than one crore doses were given in a day.
