Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Polls in these states and UT’s in phase 5

In the fifth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, voting will be held on Monday (May 20) for 49 seats in 6 states and 2 union territories.

In 2019, BJP won the most seats (32) on these seats, Shiv Sena (7), TMC (4). Congress was able to win only Rae Bareli seat of UP while others got 5 seats.

In this phase, 9 Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani and Piyush Goyal are in the fray. Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Rae Bareli.

According to the Election Commission, 695 candidates are in the fray in the fifth phase of the election. There are 613 male and 82 female candidates.

According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), out of the 615 candidates in this phase, 23% i.e. 159 candidates have criminal cases registered against them.

According to the report, 227 i.e. 33% candidates have assets worth one crore or more. Only one candidate has declared his assets as zero.

The richest candidate in this phase is Anurag Sharma, BJP candidate from Jhansi seat of Uttar Pradesh. He has assets worth Rs 212 crore.

Out of 543 Lok Sabha seats, voting has been completed on 380 seats till the fourth phase. Voting will be completed on a total of 429 seats by May 20. Voting will be held on 114 seats in the remaining 2 more phases.
