New Year’s Eve: Vehicular traffic to be stopped at Connaught Place after 8 pm
On the eve of New Year’, the Delhi Traffic Police has made extensive arrangements for the smooth operation of traffic in the city. The highest priority is given on Connaught Place and surrounding areas, where entry restrictions on cars will be imposed. Traffic Police said in a statement that entry of all types of vehicles will be barred from eight o’clock in the Connaught Place to the end of the celebration. Additional Commissioner of Police, BK Singh said that cars are not allowed in the Inner, Middle or Outer Circle of Connaught Place.
The official said that the traffic police will run a special campaign against drinking, jumping a signal, and driving the vehicle dangerously. It has been stated in the statement that vehicles from Chelmsford Road near Mandi House Round Circle, Ranjit Singh Flyover, Minto Road, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg Crossing, Munje Chowk (New Delhi Railway Station), to Connaught Place will not be allowed.
BK Singh told that cars will not be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place from RK Ashram Marg-Chitragupta, Goal Market Round Circle, GPO, Patel Chowk, Kasturba Gandhi Road-Ferozeshah Road Crossing, Jai Singh Road-Bangla Sahib Lane. According to the traffic consultation, the drivers can park their cars in some places around Connaught Place.
According to the news agency PTI, it has been reported that alternative routes have also been set up to move towards New Delhi Railway Station. However, the way towards Old Delhi Railway Station will not be affected. Apart from this, traffic plans have been made for Saket, Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, New Friends Colony, Hauz Khas, Defense Colony, Vasant Vihar, RK Puram, Nehru Place, Dwarka, Palam Airport, Rajouri Garden, Ashok Vihar, Model Town and Mayur Vihar. Special arrangements have been made for this.
