Orange alert for heavy snowfall in Himachal
Good news has come once again for the tourists who are planning to visit Himachal Pradesh around New Year. Meteorological Center Shimla has issued an orange alert for snowfall.
According to the Meteorological Center, the weather is forecast to change after noon on 27 December and there will be snowfall in the high altitude areas of the state. After this, the weather is forecast to remain pleasant like this till 29 December. On the New Year, on 31 December and 1 January, snowfall alert has also been issued in the high altitude areas of the state. However, there is no forecast of snowfall in Shimla city during this time.
IMD Shimla issued an orange alert for snowfall
Scientist Shobhit Katiyar of Meteorological Center Shimla said that the weather in Himachal Pradesh is going to change once again. A western disturbance is moving towards Himachal Pradesh. Its effect will start showing after noon on 27 December. This western disturbance will show its effect till 29 December. During this time there will be snowfall at the main tourist places of the state. Meteorological Centre Shimla has also issued a warning that the temperature in many areas may drop to eight to nine degrees. The local administration has appealed to the people to take precautions.
Normal life has been affected due to snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh. All though roads were blocked in many places due to heavy snow, traffic was moving smoothly on the road coming from Chandigarh to Shimla city. There is no obstacle on the way for tourists coming to Shimla. Sand is being put on Kufri-Fagu road in Shimla to reduce slipperiness.
Cold wave warning, temperature in minus
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding cold wave in the lower and plain areas of the state. At the same time, the mercury of seven cities of the state is in minus as far as the minimum temperature is concerned. Tabo was the coldest in the state with a minimum temperature of -12.1 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, minimum temperature of -7.8 degree Celsius was recorded in Kukumseri, -8.5 in Samdo, -0.9 in Bhuntar, -0.7 in Bajaura, -1.6 in Kalpa, -1.8 degree Celsius in Manali.
