High Court bans new licenses of stone crushers in Nainital & Udham Singh Nagar
The High Court has stayed the release of new licenses of Stone Crushers in Bajpur, Ramnagar and Kashipur in Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar District. At the same time, the state government has been instructed to file a reply within two weeks.
Jogipura Bazpur resident, Milak Raj and others have filed a public interest petition saying that more than 60 stone crushers are operating in Kosi and Dabka rivers in Ramnagar, Bajpur and Kashipur tehsils. Which are more than the capacity of these rivers, but in the meanwhile, the government is preparing to issue license to new Stone Crushers, which will lead to illegal mining and pollution.
It has been said in the petition that a large quantity of mining material is being stocked by former Stone Crusher owners. Road is being built on forest land without permission. After hearing the matter, the Bench of Acting Chief Justice Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari asked the state government to file a reply within two weeks while banning issuing of new licenses for new stone crushers in Ramnagar, Bajpur, Kashipur tehsil areas.
