Naini lake levels rise after fresh spell of rain
After two weeks of sunshine, the weather has changed. Due to about 250 mm rainfall since Saturday, the water level of Naini Lake has reached 12 feet above normal. Due to this, two exit gates of the lake had to be opened. Despite this the water level of the lake is increasing. Due to continuous rain and fog for two days, the cold increased in Nainital. Tourists had arrived here since Friday due to the closure in most parts of Delhi due to the G-20 conference.
But due to continuous rain from morning till evening on Sunday, only a limited number of tourists could come out of the hotels and guest houses. In such a situation, the tourism business of the city was also affected. The roads of the city also got submerged due to torrential rains on Sunday. The water level of the lake also reached the railing of the Mall Road. Even after both the exit gates were opened at full capacity, the lake remained full till night.
