Many injured in package blast in Lyon, France

Many people have been injured in roadside package bomb blasts in Lyon city of France. The injured also include an eight-year-old girl. These explosions have happened at a time when elections are to be held in the European Parliament two days later. President Emmanuel Macron described the blast as an attack. He said that there is no news of anyone killed in the attack.

According to the media report, the explosion took place on a narrow strip between the Seine and the Rhone rivers in the historic center of the southeast city. The spot has been evacuated since the blast. Lyon is France’s third largest city.

Police sources said that the explosive was kept on the road side. Nails and bolts were packed here in this package. A person of about 30 years was seen some time before the blast occurred here. At present, the police are engaged in search of suspects.

After the blast, President Macron has sent his minister Christophe Castaner to take stock of the situation. At the same time the police has also appealed to the witnesses on Twitter that they help in catching the suspect.

The country’s judicial minister Nicole Belloubet has said on the television channel that it would be hasty to say that the blast was a terrorist attack. Of the 13 people injured in the attack, 11 have been taken to the hospital. Although no serious injuries have occurred.

There are also many shops nearby. Shopkeepers say that they were working in their shop when they heard a loud bang. At first it seemed that this sound might have occurred during the construction work but later it was known that this package caused a blast.

Earlier in 2015 there was a terror attack in France, in which about 250 people died. In 2007 there was a package attack, in which a policeman was killed and many others were injured. However, the police could never find out who did this package explosion.
