Pauri student set ablaze by rejected lover dies in Delhi
On December 16 evening, a married man Manoj Kumar, of Gaharh village, set fire to a BSc Second year student of Kafolsaun Patti in Pauri district. While she was returning home from the school by taking an practical examination from college. It is alleged that Manoj was there while chasing her. On opposing his advances, he carried out this horrifying incident. In the attack, the student’s body was nearly seventy percent burnt.
After the first aid in Srinagar, Base Hospital, she was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh, the next day i.e. on 17th December. She was treated there for two days. After this, the student was taken to the Safdarjung hospital in Delhi by helicopter on the directions of the state government by consulting the doctors. Sunday she breathed her last during the treatment.
The police had arrested Manoj Kumar on the same night. A report of the murder was launched against him. Pauri’s SSP Jagat Ram Joshi told that the trial has been converted into murder. After completing the investigation of the case within the next fifteen days, the chargesheet will be filed against the accused
