Congress declares candidate for Kedarnath bypoll

In the Kedarnath by-election, Congress has fielded former MLA Manoj Rawat. The party high command declared Manoj Rawat as the candidate out of 13 contenders. Manoj Rawat will file nomination on Monday at the district headquarters Rudraprayag. In which all the senior leaders of the party will be present in support.

All India Congress Committee General Secretary KC Venugopal announced the candidate. Manoj Rawat contested for the first time in 2017 from Kedarnath assembly seat on a Congress ticket and won. After this, he lost the 2022 assembly elections for the second time. Manoj was in third place with 12557 votes. In the by-election, Congress has once again backed Manoj Rawat.

State Vice President Organization and Administration Mathuradutt Joshi said that Congress candidate Manoj Rawat will file nomination on October 28. On this occasion, State President Karan Mahara, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, National Secretary and State Co-incharge Surendra Sharma, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, former State President Pritam Singh, Ganesh Godiyal, Dr. Harak Singh Rawat along with party MLAs, former MLAs and other officials will be present.
