Kedarnath assembly seat bypoll on Nov 20

The date of by-election on Kedarnath assembly seat has been announced. Election Commission announced this in a press conference today. Voting will be held on the assembly seat on November 20, 2024. While counting of votes will be held on November 23.

Nomination will be held from October 29 and withdrawal of nomination will be possible till November 4. By-election will be held in Kedarnath assembly seat which has about 92 thousand voters after the death of late MLA Shailarani Rawat. After the announcement of the date of by-election by the Election Commission, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande held a press conference in the capital Dehradun. He told that the code of conduct will be applicable in Rudraprayag district. 90540 voters will vote.

A total of 173 polling stations have been set up for the election. Polling parties will leave one day before at 166 polling stations. While polling parties will be sent two days before at seven polling stations. 27 sectors and two zones have been created for the election. Sector Magistrate has started his action.

According to the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, although snowfall occurs in some areas of Kedarnath Assembly in the month of December, but as a precaution, complete arrangements for protection from snowfall will also be made available to the polling teams.

Parties geared up

Both BJP and Congress parties in the state have put in full effort to capture the vacant assembly seat in Kedarnath. BJP has assigned responsibility to each worker from Mandal to booth level, which is being monitored. All the district and block level officials have been asked to do public relations in remote villages, from whom daily reports are being sought. BJP does not want to leave any stone unturned in this by-election. From the cabinet ministers of the government, MLAs to district level officials and workers are visiting every village of Kedarnath Assembly and contacting every voter.

While the problems of the disaster-affected people are being made an issue by the Congress, an attempt was also made to create an atmosphere in favour of the party through the Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra.
