A giant asteroid to fly pass Earth on Christmas Eve
An asteroid is going to pass close to the Earth. The name of this asteroid is 2024 XN1, which scientists are keeping a close eye on. It will pass closest to Earth on December 24, a day before Christmas. This asteroid is about 120 feet long. It will pass at a distance of 7,209,861 km from Earth. This is 16 times the average distance between the Moon and Earth. Talking about its speed, it is traveling at 23,726 km per hour. According to scientists, there is no danger to Earth from this.
Such asteroids help in understanding the early solar system. NASA is watching it closely with modern tracking technology to better understand its path. Although there is no danger from this asteroid, its presence is a reminder of the need to continue our planet’s protection efforts. 2024 XN1 is the largest of the next five asteroids to pass near Earth.
NASA is tracking
It is being tracked by NASA’s ‘Asteroid Watch’ dashboard. This dashboard is tracking the asteroid, which has a diameter of about 120 feet. This dashboard gives information about asteroids and comets passing near the Earth. People can see information about their size and speed through this.
Asteroids are a threat to the Earth
Asteroids are a big threat to the Earth. Most of the dinosaur species were wiped out by an asteroid. NASA is preparing to deal with these threats. NASA also ran the DART mission, through which the direction of the asteroid was changed. Scientists believe that by changing the direction of the asteroid, the threats coming towards the Earth can be prevented.
