First All-Women crew launches to space on Blue Origin

For the first time, an all-women crew of 6 members traveled to space together on Monday. These include famous Hollywood singer Katy Perry, American billionaire Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez.

They made this journey in a rocket of American industrialist Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin company. The rocket took off from Texas’s Van Horn launch pad at 7 pm. The mission returned after about 11 minutes.

During this time, the rocket traveled a total of 212 km, including to and fro. This is the first all-women crew to go on a space trip after 1963. Earlier in 1963, Russian engineer Valentina Tereshkova traveled to space alone.

The cost of an 11-minute journey is Rs 1.15 crore

The cost of an 11-minute trip to space on a Blue Origin rocket is approximately Rs 1.15 crore. This mission is part of Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin company’s New Shepard program, which has been named NS-31.

Apart from Katy Perry and Lauren, TV presenter Gayle King, human rights activist Amanda Nguyen, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn and former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe also went on a space trip.
