French Open 2024: Alcraz-Zverev to meet in the final

Carlos Alcaraz of Spain has reached the final of the French Open. Alcaraz defeated Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals. 21-year-old Alcaraz has reached the French Open final for the first time. He has become the youngest player from Spain to reach three different Grand Slam finals. Alcaraz won the US Open in 2022 and the Wimbledon title in 2023. Now he will play for the championship on the red clay at Roland Garros. A win for Alcaraz or Zverev would a maiden Roland Garros triumph for either player.

Third seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the semi-finals of the French Open. Now he will face fourth seed Alexander Zverev in the final. Germany’s Zverev defeated seventh seed Casper Ruud 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 in the other semi-final. Over all Zeverev-Alcaraz have met 9 times so far, with the 27 year old Zevrev holding a 5-4 lead in their rivalry. In 2024, the players have split their head to head 1 match apiece.

Carlos Alcaraz made a brilliant comeback after falling behind in the semi-finals against Sinner. He took a break and sought the help of his trainer to deal with stiffness and pain during the match. After winning the first set, Jannick Sinner took a 2-0 lead in the second set. After this he lost rhythm. Alcaraz then made a brilliant comeback. Sinner had no answer to his drop shots and curling lobs.

Sinner to be new world number 1

Jannick Sinner won the Australian Open in January. He entered the semi-finals of the French Open in 2024 with a 13-0 record in Grand Slam tournaments. Despite this defeat, Sinner will become number-1 in the ATP rankings to be released next week. He will reach the top of the ATP rankings for the first time.
