Ind vs SA T20 series 2024: India defeats South Africa in first T20I

The Indian team defeated South Africa by 61 runs in the first T20I match of the ongoing T20I series between the two teams. India gave South Africa a target of 203 runs to win, in response to which the South African team were bundled out for 141 runs. The bowlers and batsmen from the Indian team performed brilliantly. While Sanju Samson scored a century, Varun Chakraborty and Ravi Bishnoi took 3 wickets each. It is because of these players that the Indian team has been successful in winning the match. Team India has created a historic record as soon as Sanju scored a century thereby becoming the first Indian batter to score consecutive T20I centuries.

Sanju Samson, who scored a century against Bangladesh on Dussehra on 12 October at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, created history on Friday by batting in the same fearless style in the first T20 match against South Africa at Kingsmead ground in Durban.

Sanju played a stormy innings of 107 runs in just 50 balls and became the first batsman of India and the fourth batsman in the world to score two consecutive centuries in T20I cricket. Sanju hit spectacular shots all around the ground.

India’s highest score

While Sanju scored a century in just 40 balls in Hyderabad, he completed his century in 47 balls in Durban. Due to his amazing innings, India scored 202 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs, which is its highest score in T20 against South Africa.

Indian spinners’ brilliance

While the Indian batsmen scored a lot of runs against the South African spinners, the African batsmen were seen struggling against Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi. Varun and Bishnoi maintained the pressure that Arshdeep created on the host team by dismissing Markram in the very first over. Both the spinners claimed 3 wickets each to give the visitors break through at crucial times.
