India defeats Bangladesh in 1st Test by 188 runs
India has won the first match of the two-Test series against Bangladesh by 188 runs. With this victory, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. Cheteshwar Pujara, Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav performed amazingly for India in this match. The second match of the series will start from 22 December.
Bangladesh’s second innings was reduced to 324 runs. Axar Patel clean bowled Taijul Islam to end Bangladesh’s innings. With this, India has won this match by a margin of 188 runs. This is India’s biggest win in terms of runs in Bangladesh. With this victory, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. To reach the final of the World Test Championship, India needed to win this match and with the victory, India has taken a step towards the final of the Test Championship. Now India has to win four of its remaining five Tests.
What happened in the match?
Batting after winning the toss, India scored 404 runs in the first innings. Pujara 90, Shreyas Iyer 86 and Ravichandran Ashwin with 58 runs were the top scorers for India. Pant and Kuldeep also made good contributions. Taijul Islam and Mehdi Hasan Miraj took four wickets each for Bangladesh. In response, the Bangladesh team was able to score only 150 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim scored the highest 28 and Mehdi Hasan scored 25 runs. Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets and Mohammad Siraj took three wickets for India.
India scored 258 for two in the second innings thanks to Shubman Gill’s 110 and Cheteshwar Pujara’s 102. Captain Rahul declared the innings with Pujara’s century. In the second innings, Bangladesh’s Khaled Ahmed and Mehdi Hasan took one wicket each. India declared their second innings with a total of 512 runs and set Bangladesh a target of 513 runs to win. In response, Bangladesh’s team was able to score only 324 runs and lost the match by a margin of 188 runs. Zakir Hasan scored a century for Bangladesh, Shakib scored 84 and Shanto scored 67. Axar Patel took four wickets and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets for India. All other bowlers got one wicket each.
