IPL 2024: KKR win title for third time

Kolkata Knight Riders became the winner of IPL 2024. Shahrukh Khan’s team created history by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. KKR won the IPL trophy for the third time. In a lopsided match, Hyderabad batters were completely dominated by KKR bowlers. The match was expected to be exciting, because both were the best teams of the tournament. But this did not happen. Hyderabad’s batsmen had no answer to the fiery spells of Mitchell Starc and Andre Russell, due to which the team collapsed for 113 runs. Chasing the target, KKR won by scoring 114 runs in 10.3 overs due to the explosive batting of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 runs) and Venkatesh Iyer (52 runs not out).

KKR won the trophy after 10 years

Kolkata team has created history. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, KKR won the IPL trophy for the third time. Earlier, KKR had won the title in 2012 and 2014. Both these titles were won by the team under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Now after 10 years the team has again succeeded in becoming champion. Gautam Gambhir’s arrival in KKR proved auspicious for the team. Before the start of the season, Gautam Gambhir returned to KKR as a mentor and was successful in helping the team win the title. Before this, Gambhir was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants for two years.

Batting woes for SRH

The decision to bat after winning the toss proved costly for Sunrisers Hyderabad and the entire team collapsed for just 113 runs. Top Order proved to be a complete flop. Mitchell Starc bowled brilliantly and made Abhishek Sharma (2 runs) and Rahul Tripathi (9 runs) his victims. On the other hand, Travis Head, who had been wreaking havoc with the bat throughout the season, gave away his wicket to Vaibhav Arora without opening the account. Aiden Markram (24 runs) and Nitish Reddy (13 runs) tried to take the innings forward, but both of them did not stay at the crease for long. The team’s last hope from Heinrich Klaasen who had scored a half century in the previous game also fell after scoring 16 runs. Captain Pat Cummins (24 runs) tried to take the team to a respectable score, but he was dismissed by Andre Russell.

Venkatesh-Gurbaz played match winning innings

Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz batted brilliantly while chasing the target and while chasing the small target of 114 runs, the team won by 8 wickets. However, Gurbaz was out a few runs before the victory, he scored 39 runs in 32 balls, which included 5 fours and 2 sixes. Venkatesh remained unbeaten after scoring 52 runs in 26 balls. His innings included 4 fours and 3 sixes. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten after scoring 6 runs. Earlier, KKR bowlers performed brilliantly and restricted Hyderabad to 113 runs. Andre Russell was successful in taking maximum 3 wickets. Harshit Rana and Mitchell Starc got 2-2 wickets. Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty took 1 wicket each.
