IPL 2025: RCB defeats LSG in final league game; to play Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1

In the 70th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Tuesday (May 27), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 6 wickets. Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Jitesh Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Skipper Rishabh Pant after a torrid season with the bat, hit an unbeaten century in the final league game due to which Lucknow Super Giants scored 227 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Royal Challengers scored 230 runs for 4 wickets in 18.4 overs.

In the playoffs, RCB will face Punjab Kings in Qualifier-1 on 29 May. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will face each other in the Eliminator on 30 May. The winner of Qualifier-1 will play the final. The winner of the Eliminator will face the team that lost in Qualifier-1 in Qualifier-2 on 1 May. The team that wins this match will face winner of Qualifier-1 in the final on 3 June.

Abdul Samad remained unbeaten on 1 run. For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Nuwan Tushara, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Romario Shepherd took 1 wicket a piece.
For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Jitesh Sharma played a career best unbeaten innings of 85 runs off 33 balls. Virat Kohli scored 54 runs. Mayank Agarwal remained unbeaten on 41 runs. Phil Salt scored 30 runs and Liam Livingstone was dismissed without opening the account. Will O’Rourke took 2 wickets for Lucknow. Akash Singh and Avesh Khan took 1 wicket each.
IPL 2025: Another milestone for Kohli
Virat Kohli added a special achievement to his T20 career on Tuesday. Kohli became the first batsman to complete 9000 T20 runs for a franchise.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore star batsman achieved this feat in the last league match of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium against Lucknow Super Giants. Kohli has been with RCB in the IPL since 2008 and he needed 24 runs to complete 9000 runs.

Virat Kohli easily completed 9000 T20 runs for RCB by completing 24 runs. These 9000 runs include 8609 runs of IPL and 424 runs of Champions League T20. Virat Kohli is also the highest run-scorer in IPL. Next on the list is Rohit Sharma who has scored 6060 runs for the Mumbai Indians.
