IPL Mega auction 2025: Rishabh Pant becomes highest bid player in IPL history

The mega auction of IPL 2025 has started with a bumper start. Rishabh Pant has become the highest priced player in IPL history. Lucknow Super Giants bid Rupees 27 crores for the charismatic left hander. He left Shreyas Iyer behind in this matter. Punjab Kings offered him Rs 26.75 crore.

Cummins-Stark also get big deals

In the mini auction held last year for IPL 2024, Australia’s world champion captain Pat Cummins and Starc were talk of the auction both broke all the old records. Cummins was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore. After this, about two hours later, compatriot Mitchell Starc came to the auction table and was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 24.75 crore. The base price of both was Rs 2 crore. For the first time in the history of IPL auction, the figure of Rs 20 crore was crossed and that too on two players simultaneously.

Recently before the auction, all the teams had released their retention list. This time in the auction, bids were also made for players like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh, Jos Buttler and Mitchell Starc, who were decided not to be retained by their teams.
