New Zealand beat Pakistan by 4 runs in 1st test in Abu Dhabi
New Zealand edged out Pakistan in a thriller in Abu Dhabi. Batting first New Zealand could manage just 153 runs in the first innings. Pakistan in reply got 227 in their first innings. New Zealand then set a target of 175 runs for Pakistan in the second innings on the back of half centuries from Watling and Nicolls. For Pakistan Yasir Shah and Hasan Ali claimed 5 wickets each in the second innings.
Pakistan openers made a cautious start with 65 runs required with 6 wickets in hand a win was in sight. But the black caps had other plans. Debutant Ajaz Patel claimed a 5 wicket hall including the final wicket to hand New Zealand an improbable win by 4 runs.
