Rafael Nadal maintains unbeaten streak in 2022; wins Acapulco title
Spain’s Rafael Nadal, one of the world’s greatest tennis players, said earlier this week that he was not aware of his career statistics. Now he would definitely like to look at these figures. The 35-year-old Spanish player defeated Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4 to win the Mexico Open tennis tournament title on Saturday. With this he took his record this season to 15-0, which is his best record at the start of the season.
Rafael Nadal won his 91st ATP title. This is his third title in the year 2022. He also won the title of Australian Open this year. Nadal is now only three titles behind third-ranked Ivan Lendl in terms of winning the most titles in the Open era. Jimmy Connors is on top with 109 titles, followed by Roger Federer.
This is Nadal’s fourth overall title in Acapulco. Earlier, he won the title here in 2005, 2013 and 2020. Meanwhile, in the doubles final, Feliciano López and Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julian Roger 7-5, 6-4 to win the title.
