Shami’s 5-for gives India commanding lead in first test against SA
The Indian cricket team took a massive 130-run lead in the first innings of the first Test against South Africa at Centurion. On the third day of the match, India’s first innings folded for 327 runs and after that, on the basis of the lethal bowling of Mohammed Shami, the hosts were bundled out for 197 runs. During this match, he became the fifth Indian fast bowler to take 200 Test wickets.
The first match of the three-match series is being played between India and South Africa in Centurion. On the first day of the match, India scored 272 for 3 on the back of KL Rahul’s century. The match could not be played on the second day due to rain. India’s first innings on the third day ended on 327 runs. After this, the Indian bowlers tightened the screws on South Africa and the entire team was bundled out for 197 runs.
Shami completed 200 Test wickets
In the first innings of the Centurion Test against South Africa, Shami took 5 wickets for 44 runs in 16 overs. With the help of these five wickets, he touched the 200-wicket mark in Tests. Shami became the 5th fast bowler to do so for India. Shami made it to the list which includes the likes of Kapil Dev (434), Zaheer Khan (311), Ishant Sharma (311), Javagal Srinath (236).
Shami overtakes Ashwin
In the 55th Test match, Shami took the 200th wicket while bowling in the 103rd innings. During this he bowled 9896 balls and left Indian Ashwin behind. The Indian spinner took 200 Test wickets after bowling 10,248 balls.
