South Africa reaches first T20 final by defeating Afghanistan

The South African team has created history. The South African team ended Afghanistan’s fairy tale run in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. South Africa’s fast bowlers wreaked havoc and made this semi-final match completely one-sided. In true sense, the fast bowlers laid the foundation for South Africa’s victory in this semi-final match and took it to the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time. Never before had the South African team reached the final of the ODI World Cup or the T20 World Cup. By reaching the final of the T20 World Cup 2024, the South African team has already created history.

South Africa can face either India or England in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. The second semi-final match between India and England will be played at the Guyana National Stadium from 8 pm IST on 27 June. The winning team of the India vs England semi-final match will take on South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 on 29 June. Now there is a tough competition between the three countries to win the trophy. South Africa has a chance to win the T20 World Cup trophy for the first time, England for the third time and India for the second time.

Afghanistan batting collapse

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan won the toss in this match and decided to bat first and handed over the bowling to the South African team. This decision of Rashid Khan backfired for the Afghans as their top order failed miserably. South African bowlers wreaked havoc on the Afghanistan team at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. The Afghanistan team collapsed for a score of just 56 runs in 11.5 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (0), Ibrahim Zadran (2), Gulbadin Naib (9), Mohammad Nabi (0), Nangyal Kharoti (2), Karim Janat (8), Noor Ahmed (0), Rashid Khan (8) and Naveen Ul Haq (2) couldn’t go pass double digit score. Marco Jansen and Tabrez Shamsi took 3-3 wickets for South Africa. Apart from this, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje took 2 wickets each.

South Africa’s team had a modest target of 56 runs to reach the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time. South African batsmen had no problem in achieving this easy target. South Africa’s team scored 60 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 8.5 overs and entered the final of T20 World Cup 2024 for the first time.
