US Open 2025: Djokovic-Alcaraz reach 3rd round
Former world number 1 Novak Djokovic and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz have made it to the third round of the US Open 2025. Djokovic defeated American qualifier Zachary Svajda in the second round on Wednesday to make it to the third round.
With this win, Djokovic reached the third round of the US Open for a record 19th time and surpassed Roger Federer.
Will face Norrie in the third round
He defeated Svajda 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. Djokovic faced difficulty at the start of the match as Svajda won the first set in a tie-break. But, after that Djokovic made a great comeback. The 22 year old had trouble in the later sets due to a leg injury, which Djokovic took advantage of.
Now in the third round, he will face Britain’s Cameron Norrie, who has made it to the third round by defeating Argentina’s Francisco Comesaña.
Alcaraz won in straight sets
Carlos Alcaraz also made it to the third round of the US Open 2025 with a brilliant performance. In the second round, he defeated Italy’s Mattia Bellucci 6-1, 6-0, 6-3 in straight sets in 1 hour 36 minutes. Now in the third round, the second seed will face Italy’s Luciano Dardari.
