Vinesh Phogat returns to India amidst grand welcome

India’s veteran wrestler Vinesh Phogat has returned to India from Paris. She was given a warm welcome at New Delhi airport. Fans reached Delhi airport with drums to welcome Vinesh. At the same time, wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik were also seen at the airport. As soon as she met them, Vinesh became emotional and started crying bitterly. Vinesh missed out on winning a medal in the Paris Olympics. After reaching the final of the women’s 50 kg category, she was disqualified due to increased weight.

When Vinesh was disqualified just before the gold medal match, the Indian Olympic Association strongly objected to it. Regarding this matter, Vinesh had also appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports to give a shared silver medal, but her petition was rejected by CAS on the evening of August 14.

When Vinesh Phogat returned to the country after participating in the Paris Olympics, she became emotional after seeing her welcome, while she said that I want to thank all the countrymen and consider myself very lucky. Vinesh has been welcomed like a champion on her return to the country. The 29 year old Vinesh had announced her retirement from wrestling after being disqualified just before the gold medal match.

Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and many other wrestlers were also present to welcome Vinesh Phogat outside the Delhi airport. Apart from this, Vinesh’s family members were also there, in which her brother Harinder Punia said in his statement to ANI that people who love wrestling and sports have come here today to welcome Vinesh at the airport. Apart from this, preparations are also going on to welcome Vinesh at home. When Vinesh came out of the airport, she could not stop her tears after seeing the fans welcoming her like this.
