Virat Kohli announces retirement from Test Cricket
Indian team’s star cricketer Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket on Monday. Kohli announced his retirement through his official social media handles. Virat Kohli scored 9230 runs in 123 Tests with the help of 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries. He made his Test debut in 2011.
After Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli announced his Test retirement before the England tour. This has made it clear that a new Indian team will go on the England tour.
Reports had come some time ago that Virat Kohli has made up his mind to retire from Test cricket before the England tour. Then some veteran cricketers had appealed to him to continue playing till the England series.

Kohli shared a photo on his social media handles and wrote the caption, ‘It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It tested me, shaped me and taught me lessons I will carry with me for life.’
He further wrote, ‘Playing in white is a very personal experience. Quiet atmosphere, long days, small moments that no one sees, but which stay with you forever. As I step away from this format, it’s not easy – but it feels right.’
Kohli wrote, ‘I have given it my all, and it has given me more than I expected. I leave with a heart full of gratitude – for the game, for the people I shared the field with, and for every single person who saw me during this time.
