Apple WWDC 2020 to be held online
Tech giant Apple has announced on Friday that the company’s Annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held in June. The company has also informed that due to the fast spreading corona virus worldwide, the event will be organized only in digital format. Let us tell you that many tech companies have either canceled or postponed their on-ground events / conferences in view of the corona virus.
This will be the first time in 31 years that the Apple WWDC event will be held in a new online format. In this event, there will be content for consumers, press and developers. In the online event, there will be an opportunity for millions of developers to quickly access the elements. This includes the upcoming iOS, ipadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. The company said in a statement that through the event, a lot of developers will also get an opportunity to connect with the engineers who make Apple’s best apps.
Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Marketing at Apple, said, “We will deliver WWDC 2020 to millions of developers around the world in a highly innovative way in June. He further said that the current health situation is becoming such that we need to bring a new format for WWDC 2020. In this format, the entire program will be delivered with online keynotes and sessions.
Apart from this, on Friday, Apple has also announced that the company will close all its retail stores around the world for the next two weeks, in addition to retail stores in Greater China, to help reduce the risk of coronavirus. Apple CEO Tim Cook wrote in a letter posted on the company’s website, “We will close all our retail stores outside of Greater China until 27 March.”
