Mucormycosis or ‘Black fungus’ has now been declared an epidemic in the state of Uttarakhand. Orders have been issued in this regard by the Uttarakhand government on Saturday. At the same time, the government will give two and a half thousand rupees every month to the children who have lost their parents due to Covid.
The move comes after Mucormycosis surfaced as a Corona side effect. The number of Black Fungus infected patients is increasing daily in Uttarakhand.
n the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, four wards of 25 beds each have been made for patients suffering from black fungus. Separate arrangements have been made in these wards for Covid positive and Covid negative patients. The 15-member team of specialist doctors is treating the patients.
What is Mucormycosis?
Mucormycosis is a rare type of fungus. It spreads more rapidly in the body through nostrils or bruises and scratches. It is seen more in those patients whose immunity is weak. Dr. Amit Tyagi, Head and ENT Surgeon of Mucormycosis Treatment Team at AIIMS, says that corona infected patients who are not under sugar level control are more at risk from the disease. When the immunity is low, this fungus gets a chance to grow rapidly and the patient quickly reaches a critical condition.
