Campaign to be initiated for effectively curbing of drug trafficking

An intensive campaign to be initiated for effectively curbing of drug trafficking in Dehradun. A joint team of higher officials of the Health Department, Police and District Administration to be constituted for random inspection. Special monitoring to be ensured of the Pan shops and medical stores around the schools and colleges. Chief Minister Harish Rawat expressed concern over the rampant drugs addiction in students on Monday at Bijapur Guest House in a organized meeting concerned with subject.

Chief Minister said that it is to be ensured that medicines which are being used by the youngsters for the drugs to be listed as well to be monitored that such medicines must be sold by only licensed Stockiest on the prescription of the Doctor. If it is taken Notice that medicines are being sold without doctors’ prescription, license to be cancelled and action to be taken against as a result. Chief Minister directed the District Magistrate to clarify the institutions that no drugs related stuff found with the students in their hostels and institutions by taking a meeting with the principals of the institutions as Administration can make arrangement for scrutinizing the hostels and institutions if any concerned information is received.

Chief Minister directed for the random inspection of the license of medical stores , stocks and registers by constituting a joint team of higher officials of the Health Department, Police and District Administration. The warning to be issued that if tobacco or other liked material stuffed pouch found in the Pan Shops around the educational institutions is sold, it would be suspected as offence. Chief Minister emphasized that officials to be imparted the responsibilities and severe actions to be ensured if carelessness and involvement is found in any case. Assistance of the Drugs re-habilition Centers to be taken for cure of Drugs addicts Detective Network of the police to be used for the finding out the network of the drugs trafficking. Special monitoring to be ensured where the information regarding drugs trafficking is received.

Chief Secretary N Ravishanker, DGP B S Sidhhu, DM Dehradun Ravinath Raman, SSP Pushpak Jyoti including other officials were present in the meeting.
