Chardham Yatra halted for a day
In view of the continuous heavy rainfall in the state and the possibility of landslides, the Chardham Yatra has been halted for a day, considering the safety of the passengers as paramount. Giving information, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the current weather conditions.
He said that this precautionary step has been taken in view of the safety of life and property of the devotees, so that those stranded on the routes do not face any inconvenience and they can be taken to safe places. The administration of the concerned districts has been put on alert and relief and rescue teams have been activated.

Commissioner Pandey said that the decision regarding further travel will be taken after reviewing the weather conditions and routes tomorrow. Devotees have been appealed to follow the guidelines issued by the administration and do not leave for the travel sites till the weather becomes normal.
