Chief Minister Dhami virtually reviews the ‘game changer schemes’ of the Tourism Department
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday reviewed the virtual review of the ‘Game Changer schemes’ of the tourism department. In which under the Tourism Policy-2023, a detailed review of private investment in the state, programs promoting rural tourism and various schemes related to self-employment were reviewed.
During the review, the Chief Minister directed that the total private investment after the introduction of tourism policy, MOU. A detailed description of the status and their grounding and investment in various tourism schemes should be presented. He said that tourism is not only to increase the number of tourists, but also to prevent economic empowerment, local employment generation and migration. The Chief Minister directed to make special efforts to promote winter tourism and strengthen the facilities of the passengers. He clarified that the future of the state lies in tourism based inclusive development, which the government is advancing on priority. The Chief Minister asked to focus on developing new tourist destinations with assessment of the caring capacity of all major tourist spots including Mussoorie and Nainital.
The Chief Minister directed to add more and more local families to more and more local families in the mountainous regions, ensure technical and financial assistance and to promote self-employment near tracking routes. He also reviewed the ‘Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism Self -Employment Scheme’ and directed to provide loans and grants to the youth in a timely manner. The Chief Minister also directed to start work under the master plan of ‘Golzhu Corridor’ (Almora, Champawat, Ghorakhal) and also instructs to develop the religious places of Rudraprayag as integrated tourist circuits and to prepare special budget for regular operations, propagating special budgets for regular operation of activities like mountain biking, paragliding, aero sports, river rafting and propagating special budget for promoting. The Chief Minister said that ‘game changer schemes’ are not only promoting tourism, but also empowering the citizens of the state, especially women and youth. He instructed to convert effective implementation of all schemes, transparent distribution of grants and transform the investment received into ground benefits. Emphasis was also laid on formulating a strategy to expand the ‘Vibrant Village Scheme’ in the border areas and develop the theme-based ‘tourism village’ at the panchayat level.
During the review, the Chief Minister was informed that under the ‘Deen Dayal Upadhyay Housing Scheme’, a grant of about Rs 50 crore has been given to 1085 beneficiaries so far and 5331 home stays have been registered. Whereas in the year 2025-26, 245 new home stays have been targeted to be added. The plan has achieved special success in Tehri, Nainital and Chamoli districts. Similarly, 584 local beneficiaries have been added to 115 villages through ‘Tracking Traction Scheme’ and 18 tracking centers have been developed. Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh have been its major beneficiary areas.
It was informed in the meeting that the ‘Tourism Entrepreneur Promotion Scheme’ has been implemented to attract high price projects of more than Rs 5 crore in the state and support local investors ranging from Rs 1 crore to Rs 5 crore. So far, 909 applications have been registered under the single window system, of which 70 percent of investors are less than Rs 5 crore.
