Civic elections to be held in Uttarakhand on January 23
The final list regarding reservation for Uttarakhand civic elections has been released. After disposal of objections till late night, today on Monday, the government has released the final list of reservation for the posts of Mayor and Chairman in the municipal bodies. The date of election has also been announced. Municipal elections will be held on 23 January 2025. While counting of votes will be done on 25th.
Reservation has been changed in Srinagar, Haldwani and Almora Municipal Corporation. Mayor seat in Haldwani Municipal Corporation has been reserved for General, OBC in Almora Municipal Corporation and Mayor seat in Srinagar has been reserved for women.
Preparations for civic elections are at peak. After working till late night, the Urban Development Directorate settled the objections on the reservation of Mayor, Nagar Palika and Nagar Panchayat Chairman and sent the report to the government. On Sunday, along with all the districts, the Urban Development Directorate also remained open as usual.
Objections were examined as per the rules
The objections were examined and settled as per the rules under which the Urban Development Directorate had prepared the reservation roster and issued the provisional notification. The report has been prepared under this. Similarly, the District Magistrates have also heard and settled the objections at their level as per the rules.
