CMO orders vigil amid Covid concerns

In view of the possible increase in the cases of Covid-19 in the state, the health department has geared up. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma has instructed all the government and private hospitals, medical colleges and pathology labs in the district to remain alert and ensure necessary preparations.

The CMO said that every patient suffering from influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) should be compulsorily tested for Covid. It is also mandated that the information of the test is recorded on the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP).

He instructed all hospitals to mark isolation wards, operate flu clinics and isolate suspected patients in time and start treatment. It has been said that patients with mild symptoms should be kept in home isolation and their health should be continuously monitored. In case of severe symptoms, they should be immediately referred to the hospital.

The Chief Medical Officer also clarified that if clustering of cases of diseases like corona, influenza or SARS is reported in any area, then preventive measures will be taken along with the arrangement of rapid investigation. All hospitals have been asked to ensure adequate availability of medicines, oxygen cylinders, ventilators and other necessary resources.

The changes taking place in the virus will be monitored by getting genome sequencing done of samples of Covid positive patients. This investigation will be done through the Government Medical College and the report will also be updated on the IHIP portal.

The Health Department has instructed the institutions to register the information of the patients on time. Helpline numbers have also been issued for this, so that the problems can be resolved in time. The CMO has warned that strict action will be taken against the concerned institutions for violating the guidelines of the state and central government or for being negligent.
