7.4 magnitude earthquake strikes Russia

On Saturday, the earth shook violently on the eastern coast of Russia’s Kamchatka region. According to USGS an earthquake of 7.4 magnitude on the Richter scale was recorded here.

The Kamchatka Peninsula is an area where earthquakes occur frequently. Due to the earthquake last month, a tsunami warning was issued in Russia, America, Japan, Hawaii, Chile, Costa Rica and other countries.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck near the eastern coast of Russia’s Kamchatka region. While according to German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers below the ground. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that ‘hazardous’ waves are possible on coasts within 300 kilometers (186 miles) of the epicenter.
