Health department intensifies COVID-19 preparedness in Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand government has become alert in view of the recent increase in the cases of Covid-19 in the country. State Secretary Medical Health and Medical Education, Dr. R.K. Rajesh Kumar held an important review meeting with departmental higher officials regarding the Covid-19 management. In the meeting, he instructed the officers to keep complete preparations to deal with any possible emergency and not to take care of any level. Dr. Kumar said that all the arrangements of Covid-19 management should be fully active and well. Director General Medical Dr. Sunita Tamta, Director Medical Education Dr. Ashutosh Sayana, Assistant Director Dr. Pankaj Singh, CMO Dehradun Dr. Manoj Sharma, CMS Doon Medical College Dr. RS Bisht, and other officials were present in the meeting.

“In view of the recent increase in the country in the cases of Covid-19, Uttarakhand State Government is fully cautious. The state is still under control in the state, but we should be prepared for any possible challenge. At this time, there is a need to be vigilant, but to be vigilant and be vigilant. Our effort is that every hospital, health center and medical college are ensured that all the necessary resources related to Covid-19 are ensured-even if it is ensured. Be it the arrangement of oxygen supply or the availability of trained health workers. It is very important to wear masks, to maintain hygiene of hands, avoid congestion and consult a doctor on time in case of symptoms.

Instructions for complete arrangements in hospitals and medical colleges
All government and private hospitals and medical colleges of the state have been directed to ensure adequate availability of isolation beds, oxygen cylinders, oxygen consultators, bipep machines, ventilaters, ICU beds, oxygen generation plants and essential medicines for the treatment of covid patients.
Instructions to strengthen surveillance and investigation system
All districts have been instructed to further strengthen the monitoring of possible cases of Covid-19. Also, all investigation centers have been asked to ensure the availability of rapid test kit and RT-PCR kit.
Compulsory reporting of ILI (Symptoms like influenza), SARI (severe acute respiratory infection) and covid cases will be done and continuously monitored. All government and private hospitals and labs have been asked to ensure that they share these cases reports on the Integrated Health Information Portal (IIP) every day.
Rapid response teams should be fully prepared
Rapid response teams formed under the IDSP program have been instructed to train and be prepared for any unusual situation. All patients with covid symptoms will be examined compulsorily and cosmic positive samples will be sent to the related laboratories for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).
Public awareness and trained health workers
All health workers will be re-trained for Covid-19 management and response. Also, a comprehensive public awareness campaign will be launched to alert the public, which will be informed about the behavior adopted to prevent Kovid-19. The state government is fully alert and ready to prevent Kovid-19, and appeals to the public to adopt proper behavior and avoid rumors.
What to do and what not to do to prevent Covid-19
What to do:
- Cover the nose and mouth with a handkerchief or tissue while sneezing/coughing.
- Avoid crowded places.
- Wash the hands again and again with soap-water.
- Take sufficient amount of water and nutritious diet.
- In case of symptoms, take medical advice and take the medicine accordingly.
- Keep distance from others at the possibility of getting infected.
- Take special care of children, elderly and serious patients.
What not to do:
- Do not use the used tissue or handkerchief.
- Avoid shaking hands.
- Do not come in contact with symptoms.
- Do not take medicines without doctor’s advice.
- Do not touch the eye, nose and mouth again and again.
- Avoid spitting in public places.
