Mild Tremors felt in Uttarakhand

Dehradun/Chamoli: The state of Uttarakhand experienced mild tremors Tuesday evening. According to the MeT department the intensity of these quakes was 4.0 on the Richter scale.

Kumaon and Garhwal regions feel the tremors

The epicenter of the tremor that came at 58 minutes past 4 in the evening is believed to be 30.5 degree north and 79.3 degree East in Chamoli district.

Although no loss of life or property has been reported, the residents of Chamoli and adjoining states are in constant fear as they have been experiencing continuous after shocks of the Nepal Earthquake. The entire belt of the Himalayan region especially Uttarakhand falls under the category of highly seismic zone and a big magnitude tremor could have a catastrophic effect on the state.
