Part of under construction bridge in Rudraprayag highway collapses

A part of the signature bridge being built on the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway in Narkota, Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand collapsed on Thursday evening. Fortunately, no person was present in that section of the bridge at that time, due to which there is no news of anyone being injured. Also, there have been no casualties around the bridge. Earlier in the year 2022 also this bridge collapsed, in which two laborers died.

Giving information about the accident on Friday, an official said that the Signature Bridge is being constructed in Narkota with the help of Railways at a cost of about Rs 66 crore. The total length of this bridge is 110 meters and width is 29 meters. Its construction is going on since the year 2021.

Currently, the work of erection tower was going on on the bridge. On Thursday at around 4:10 pm, a part of the bridge collapsed due to sudden breakage of the element. However, the foundation of the bridge is completely safe. As soon as the information of the incident was received, Deputy District Magistrate Ashish Ghildiyal, Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabodh Ghildiyal reached the spot.

An accident had also happened two years ago

Questions are being raised on the working organization and construction agency after the bridge was damaged. Two years ago also, during the construction of the pillar of this bridge, a part was damaged, in which two workers died and eight people were injured. Even then questions were raised on the quality of construction work.

Answer to be sought by giving notice

Deputy District Magistrate Ashish Ghildiyal said that there has been no loss of life in the accident. A notice will be given to the National Highway Section PWD Srinagar for negligence. Also, an explanation will be sought. An investigation will be conducted into this entire incident.
