Pre-monsoon showers break decade old record in Uttarakhand
Not only did the Pre-monsoon rains in Uttarakhand brought much needed respite from the scorching heat, but also they have broken the record of the last 10 years. The rain in Haldwani and surrounding areas of Nainital district from late Saturday night to Sunday morning has caused the temperature to drop by three degrees Celsius. Pantnagar University’s meteorologist Dr. RK Singh said that on Sunday the maximum temperature was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 21 degrees Celsius.
He claims that this figure is the lowest temperature recorded on May 25 in the last ten years. According to Dr. Singh, before this the maximum temperature was so low on May 25, 2015. This seasonal change has happened due to sudden rain and clouds. Due to which the temperature has dropped. He said that the humidity was 66 percent and the winds were blowing at a speed of 6.4 km per hour.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, a yellow alert has been issued regarding rain for the next two days. People have been advised to know the weather conditions before leaving their homes and be cautious.
Improvement in the water level of Naini lake
It rained in Nainital on Sunday morning. The city received 19 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Due to this, the water level of Naini Lake has increased by half an inch. According to the GIC Meteorological Center, the maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 28 degrees and the minimum temperature at 20 degrees Celsius.
