Rs 10 lakh scam comes to light in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation
A bill scam of about Rs 10 lakh has come to light in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. In the payment of contracted buses, three transporter’s were paid twice during the operating period of time. After ten days when the anomaly was discovered, the headquarters of the corporation was shaken up. The payment happened during the time when Managing Director and General Manager went on a foreign tour. Meanwhile, General Manager Deepak Jain, who returned on Thursday, told that “the matter is of finance section, so I do not know”. On the other hand, Pankaj Tiwari, Finance Controller, said, “I was on leave, so I can not say anything.” On the other hand, Transport Minister Yashpal Arya said that it will be discussed in a meeting on Thursday.
Buses contracted in Transport Corporation are paid for 15-15 days in a month. Due to poor financial condition of the corporation usually there is a delay of four to five months in payment. On December 29 last year, 49 ordinary buses of Doon Mandal were paid 25 lakh rupees dues for 16 to 31 May 2017. Of these 19 buses are of three transporters.
The three transporteres were re-paid on January 10 from the period from May 16 to 31. It was reported that the amount of 10 lakh 7 thousand and 750 rupees was also put in their account, but the finance section of the transport corporation did not double check its records. On Monday, when the balance sheet of TDS was being made, then the matter came to notice.
Transport Minister Yashpal Arya has convened a review meeting on Thursday, regarding the irregularities in Transport Department and Transport Corporation. Transport officials were busy in preparing whole day the report about the meeting.
Transport Minister Yashpal Arya says that today I have convened a meeting about the cases of corruption in the Transport Department and Transport Corporation. How was the payment made to the same transporter’s twice, this is a serious issue. All these matters will be discussed. Strict action will be taken against the guilty.
