Transport ministry extends DL, RC renewal date to 30 June
Thousands of vehicle owners of Uttarakhand got a big relief on Friday. As the Corona transition progresses, the Transport Ministry has extended the validity of driving license, fitness certificate and registration certificate (RC) till June 30. Earlier, its date was 31 March.
According to information received by the Transport Department, Uttarakhand, the ministry has taken this decision in view of the fast spreading corona virus infection in the country. The order stated that all of these documents that could not be renewed due to the corona pandemic or lockdown, which expired on February 1, 2020, will now remain valid until June 30.
When the nationwide lockdown was imposed in March 2020, the Ministry of Roads and Transport issued advisory on 30 March 2020, 9 June 2020, 24 August 2020 and 27 December 2020 for the supply of essential goods and services. The Ministry was ordered to consider vehicle permits, driving licenses, RCs which expired on 1 February 2020 to be valid till 31 March 2021. So that there is no hindrance in the supply of essential services.
Now another wave of corona is going on in the country once again. In view of the increasing cases daily, the Ministry has extended this date to June 30. This order of the Ministry has brought great relief to thousands of vehicle owners of Uttarakhand.
If you have to get a driving license then all your work will be done from home. This exercise has been started by the Dehradun divisional transport office in Uttarakhand. Under this, the entire process will be online. The facility is expected to start in March.
RTO administration Dinesh Chandra Pathoi said that the entire process of submitting documents is going online. Along with applying, applicants will be able to take a picture of all documents and upload them directly on the website.
