Uttarakhand assembly elections 2022: Fall off the bigwigs
For the first time in the history of Uttarakhand, it is going to happen that a party will form the government in the state for the second time in a row, but the BJP is unable to openly celebrate the victory, because the current Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. While being the CM, Pushkar Singh Dhami did many big things for his constituency but the public majority did not go in his favor.
Pushkar Singh Dhami was sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of the state. He had won two consecutive elections from Khatima seat. This time also it was believed that he would be successful in winning the hearts of the people, but it did not happen. After losing his election, speculation about CM face has also intensified in the political corridors of the state. However, it is believed from the national sources of BJP that Dhami may be the CM even after losing.
Former CM, AAP CM candidate too face defeat
CM Dhami was not the only big name who had to face defeat in the Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022, former CM Harish Rawat who had contested from Lalkuan seat ended up losing to Dr. Mohan Singh Bisht of BJP by a margin of 17527 votes. The consolation for Harish Rawat camp was that his daughter was able to win the Haridwar (rural) seat.
Col. Ajay Kothiyal (retd) who was Aam Aadmi Party’s CM candidate had to be content with third place with 6161 votes cast in his favor. He was contesting from Gangotri seat where the majority chose BJP’s Suresh Singh Chauhan.
